Bank Holiday weekend timetable changes due to engineering work

Passengers travelling between the Cotswold Line and London will have to change trains at Oxford over the early May bank holiday weekend, due to the closure of the Great Western main line at Slough for engineering work.

Services on the Cotswold Line will run to special timetables from Saturday, May 5, until Monday, May 7, inclusive, between Hereford or Great Malvern or Worcester and Reading or Maidenhead.

Passengers traveling to and from London should change at Oxford and use Chiltern Railways services running to and from London Marylebone. GWR tickets will be accepted on Chiltern services.

Passengers travelling to and from stations in the Thames Valley should change at Reading or Maidenhead. Buses will replace trains between Maidenhead and London Paddington thoughout the weekend. South Western Railway will also accept GWR tickets on its services between Reading and London Waterloo.

The engineering work is part of the preparations for the opening in December of the Elizabeth Line (Crossrail), which will connect the Great Western and Great Eastern main lines using a new tunnel under central London.

More information about the alterations to GWR services over the weekend is available at GWR.com/Slough2018.
