What We Do

The main purpose of the group is to encourage the fullest use of the railway between Oxford, Worcester and Hereford and its intermediate stations, with through trains to and from London, and to improve connectivity between the railway, its local communities and other transport modes.

We strive to work with the rail industry and with national and local organisations to improve rail services and the facilities at stations.

We have frequent contact with train operators, and try to make positive and practical proposals to them for improvements. We also work with other bodies to encourage support for railway use, and to provide funding for improvements that benefit local communities.

We arrange charter trains to attractive day out destinations for members and the public.

We liaise with our local heritage railways, the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway (GWSR) and Severn Valley Railway (SVR), to enhance appreciation of railway history and heritage and to encourage leisure travel.

We make financial contributions to support other funding for improvements to railway stations

We hold meetings from time to time with County Councils and strive to increase understanding of the value of good rail services and facilities to local economies and society.

We arrange meetings for members and for the public to promote rail use, and celebrate past events.
