A number of extra Great Western Railway services are operating at the eastern end of the Cotswold Line during this weekend’s Wilderness Festival at Cornbury Park, near Charlbury.
On Thursday, August 1, and Friday, August 2, the 10.52, 11.50, 12.50 and 13.50 InterCity Express Train (IET) departures from London Paddington to Oxford are all extended to run non-stop from Oxford to Charlbury to take passengers to the event.
These services would normally go into the sidings at Oxford to wait for their return journeys to London. After passengers get off at Charlbury, the trains are running empty to Moreton-in-Marsh and then back to Oxford to form their timetabled workings back to London.
On Sunday, August 4, three extra trains, worked by Turbo diesel units, will operate to take festivalgoers home in the early evening, running from Charlbury to Oxford, Radley and Didcot Parkway only.
They will leave Charlbury at 18.12, 19.14 and 20.13. Other late afternoon and evening services to Oxford and London on Sunday are expected to be very busy.
On Monday, August 5, there will be five extra GWR IET departures from Charlbury to Oxford, Reading, Slough and London Paddington during the morning and early afternoon
The first of these will also provide an extra service from Moreton-in-Marsh, leaving there at 08.58 and departing from Charlbury at 09.17, reaching Oxford at 09.29 and Paddington at 10.31.
The other extra services will all start from Charlbury at 10.46, 11.46, 12.47 and 13.47.
