Track renewals affect GWR and WMR Sunday services

Track renewal work on the Cotswold Line and in Worcestershire will affect Sunday train services this summer.

Work will begin on Sunday, June 28, with the Cotswold Line closed between Oxford and Moreton-in-Marsh until mid-afternoon.

Buses will replace Great Western Railway (GWR) trains at stations between Oxford and Moreton until 14.50 when normal train services will resume. Until this time, passengers will be able to connect with trains to and from Worcester, Great Malvern and Hereford at Moreton.

Network Rail will also start work on Sunday, June 28, between Worcester and Droitwich Spa, which will affect West Midlands Railway (WMR) services between Birmingham, Worcester, Great Malvern and Hereford

On Sundays June 28, July 5 and July 12, this project means that buses will replace trains all day between Bromsgrove and Worcester and between Stourbridge Junction and Worcester. Trains will continue to operate between Hereford and Worcester Foregate Street.

On Sundays July 19, July 26 and August 2, the engineers will be working on track at Worcester Shrub Hill station, affecting both GWR and WMR train services.

For these three Sundays, GWR services between London and Worcester will terminate at and start from Worcestershire Parkway station, where there will be bus connections to and from Worcester Foregate Street station. Buses will also replace GWR trains between Foregate Street and Cheltenham Spa station.

WMR trains between Birmingham, Worcester, Great Malvern and Hereford will run to an amended timetable on these Sundays and will not be able to call at Worcester Shrub Hill.
