Line to shut for bridge renewal

The Cotswold Line will be closed between Moreton-in-Marsh and Worcester from Saturday, May 29, until Friday, June 4, while Network Rail replaces a bridge at Wyre Piddle, near Pershore.

The deck of the bridge which carries the line over George Lane, north of the village, is life-expired. Other engineering work will be carried out in the area during the closure.

Trains will operate to a modified timetable between London Paddington, Oxford and Moreton-in-Marsh, where buses will replace trains to and from stations along the line to Worcester Foregate Street. A very limited train service will operate between London and Worcester Shrub Hill or Hereford on weekdays only, running via Swindon and Cheltenham. Check train times before travelling.

And on the weekend of May 29 to 30, GWR trains from Bristol Temple Meads to Worcestershire will terminate at Gloucester, where buses will replace trains to Ashchurch, Worcester and Great Malvern.
