New running-in board arrives at Pershore

A recent arrival at Pershore station is a replacement running-in nameboard, which was unveiled by West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin.

It took the place of a similar sign, which was unveiled in May 2002 as part of the 150th anniversary celebrations of the opening of the section of the Oxford Worcester and Wolverhampton Railway between Stourbridge and Evesham.

Its condition had deteriorated over the years and the Cotswold Line Promotion Group paid for the replacement to be made, after it was decided this would be more cost-effective than trying to repair the existing running-in board.

The new board was made at the Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Steam Railway’s workshops and installed by contractors working for Great Western Railway, which manages the station. Click here for more on the project.
