The Andy Christie at 40 celebration event mentioned in the Winter 2021-22 edition of the Cotswold & Malvern Line News was postponed at short notice and will now take place at Evesham’s Henrician Theatre in April 2022.
Andy is a driver for CrossCountry Trains, based in Birmingham, and has organised the evening of trains, railways and steam to mark his 40th birthday and more than 28 years of involvement with railways after starting out as a volunteer at the Severn Valley Railway at the age of 12, then beginning his professional career as a driver at Worcester.
He also has a big love for garden railways and challenges and in 2017, he assisted Dick Strawbridge on the Channel 4 TV programme The Biggest Little Railway In The World.
He is now supporting a project to restore part of the Glyn Valley Tramway in North Wales, which linked Chirk with villages and quarries in the hills west of the town.
Proceeds from the event at 7.30pm on the evening of Saturday, April 9, 2022, will go to the Glyn Valley Tramway Trust.
Andy will be joined by two special guests, heritage engineering specialist Cameron Stephenson and Tewkesbury-based railway photographer Jack Boskett.
The Henrician Theatre is at Prince Henry’s High School, in Victoria Avenue, Evesham.
Tickets for the show are priced £18, plus a 50p booking fee.
If you cannot travel to Evesham, the event will also be available via Zoom, with online tickets priced £10, plus a 50p booking fee.
