April engineering work affects services

Cotswold Line train services will be altered due to Network Rail engineering work at Oxford and Pershore during April.

These changes are as follows:

On Sundays April 3 and April 10, track replacement and maintenance work in the Oxford and Banbury areas means that buses will replace trains between Didcot Parkway, Oxford and Banbury all day.

Trains will run on the Cotswold Line between Worcester and Oxford, where passengers can change to/from buses to Didcot for onward connections in the Thames Valley or Chiltern Railways trains between Oxford and London Marylebone. CrossCountry train services will terminate at Banbury from the north and Didcot Parkway from the south.

During the Easter weekend, from Good Friday, April 15, to Easter Monday, April 18, work to replace life-expired track will take place in the Pershore area (see map).

As a result, buses will replace trains between on the Cotswold Line between Worcester Foregate Street and Moreton-in-Marsh, which will be served by trains to and from London Paddington.

There will be limited direct services on Good Friday and Easter Monday between London Paddington, Worcester, Great Malvern and Hereford, running via Swindon. Trains between Bristol, Worcester and Great Malvern will run at their normal times.

And on Sunday, April 24, track replacement work will take place at Oxford station, with all train services suspended for the day. Buses will replace trains between Didcot Parkway, Oxford and Moreton-in-Marsh, and to Banbutry. Trains on the Cotswold Line will only operate between Hereford, Worcester and Moreton-in-Marsh.

Buses will also replace Chiltern Railway trains between Oxford and Oxford Parkway stations and CrossCountry train services will terminate at Banbury from the north and Didcot Parkway from the south.
